Evidence & current status
Historical supplier baseline. No current naval acceptance or model-specific production confirmation established.
MUNIN is a modular survey AUV intended to reduce the deck space and handling demands associated with larger deep-water vehicles. Kongsberg's 2018 rental catalogue describes a system supplied with a compact launch-and-recovery arrangement, operator equipment, charging equipment and survey-processing tools. It is useful historical product evidence, but its continuing online availability is not proof of a new 2026 product release.
The catalogue baseline combines multibeam and side-scan sonar with navigation and environmental sensing. Energy modules are significant: quoted endurance is per module, so the figure should retain that qualification. Depth and length likewise belong to the listed rental configuration.
MUNIN is relevant to understanding the evolution of compact autonomous survey systems. The reviewed evidence establishes a marketed commercial survey product, while leaving present production availability and a named defence customer's accepted configuration unresolved. It should consequently be compared with other dated configurations, without importing the depth, battery or performance of newer HUGIN models.
