Evidence & current status

Earlier schedules and incomplete table fields are not treated as achieved milestones or specifications.

KUS-VS is Korean Air's lift-and-cruise approach to a runway-independent tactical reconnaissance aircraft. The company describes it as an evolution of its tactical-aircraft work, with dedicated vertical-lift propulsion added to a wing-borne cruise configuration. It is distinct from KUS-VT, the company's tiltrotor concept.

A developer conference presentation describes the KUS-VS research effort and gives selected design dimensions and a speed target. It also contains placeholder values and an earlier development schedule. Those schedule entries show what was planned at the time; they do not prove that all subsequent tests were completed. The published maximum-speed figure is accordingly presented as a development target rather than a measured fleet result.

The available material establishes an identifiable aircraft programme and a coherent configuration, but not military acceptance. KUS-FT's service history cannot automatically be inherited by this derivative. A later flight-test report, definitive production specification and named customer would be required before treating KUS-VS as an operational replacement.
