Falcon is a small inspection remotely operated vehicle from Saab Seaeye. Unlike an untethered AUV, it receives power and communicates through an umbilical connected to the surface. An operator uses its camera and fitted instruments to guide close inspection, with automatic depth and heading assistance available. Its five electric thrusters provide manoeuvrability for observation around underwater structures and objects.
The standard Falcon is rated to 300 metres, while the Falcon DR is a separate 1,000-metre configuration. Published standard dimensions and mass should not automatically be treated as the complete specification of every deep-rated or specially equipped vehicle. Payload is the equipment allowance, not an endurance figure. Because power comes from the surface, battery-duration comparisons with AUVs are inappropriate. Saab UK presented Falcon among its maritime products at the 2025 Combined Naval Event, documenting its defence-market relevance. The reviewed product evidence does not identify a particular military fleet or establish that every listed optional sensor is installed on delivered vehicles.
