Evidence & current status
Manufacturer claims are distinguished from procurement and acceptance evidence; undisclosed figures have not been estimated.
STM NETA 300 is the first small autonomous underwater vehicle in STM's expanding uncrewed maritime portfolio. It is intended for seabed examination, mine detection support and underwater search, using modular sections that allow different energy and sensing configurations. Unlike a tethered ROV, it performs its underwater survey autonomously after deployment.
STM first presented the programme in October 2024. Its May 2025 announcement reported completed pool testing, initial Mediterranean sea trials and a first domestic sales contract, identifying the Turkish Navy as the intended user for mine-countermeasure work. The procurement commitment is firmer evidence than a launch announcement, but the reviewed material does not provide a dated naval acceptance or routine operational deployment record.
Battery capacity and vehicle weight are linked to configuration. The basic and longer-endurance options should therefore be compared separately, and maximum endurance should not be read as time available at maximum speed. The manufacturer's standard description identifies side-scan and gap-filling sonar, with synthetic aperture sonar offered as an option. That distinction matters when comparing image quality or survey equipment across vehicles advertised under the same NETA 300 name.
