Evidence & current status
Trial delivery is not treated as fleet-wide operational acceptance. Specifications of the firefighting derivative and early demonstrators are not transferred to the latest military configuration.
HR-Sherpa is Hyundai Rotem's multipurpose ground-vehicle programme, developed with technology from the wider Hyundai Motor Group. It combines an electric six-wheel platform with configurable equipment for observation, transport, casualty movement and other military tasks. Remote driving, following assistance and waypoint navigation are distinct control modes, not a single blanket claim of autonomous operation.
Hyundai Rotem announced delivery of two enhanced vehicles for South Korean military trials in July 2021. Its June 2024 programme account describes four generations, with the fourth associated with purchase-test evaluation. These sources establish delivered trial vehicles and continued development; they do not by themselves establish a fully accepted operational fleet of the latest generation.
Later company work includes integrated supervision of multiple robotic platforms, while an HR-Sherpa-derived firefighting robot serves a different customer and purpose. Civil emergency-service deployment cannot be substituted for military acceptance evidence. This profile therefore avoids combining specifications from early demonstrators, fourth-generation vehicles and specialised derivatives. It records the common programme architecture and preserves the testing status until a clear procurement and acceptance source identifies the relevant military configuration.
