Evidence & current status
Government approval is not a purchase or fleet delivery. Ministry's separate Droid TW combat examples are not evidence of Zmiy Droid use.
Zmiy Droid 12.7 combines Rovertech's Zmiy ground platform with DevDroid's remotely controlled Wolly mission module. The two manufacturers' identities are confirmed by DevDroid's own account. Ukraine's Ministry of Defence announced authorisation for operational use on 7 January 2026, establishing a named approved configuration rather than merely an exhibition concept.
The wheeled vehicle and integrated control arrangement distinguish this product from the tracked Droid TW already in the catalogue. Sharing a mission-equipment supplier does not make the two vehicles aliases. The official article mentions combat experience with Droid TW as background, but that experience must not be transferred to Zmiy Droid's delivery or operating record.
The ministry describes rough-ground mobility and an operator interface integrating the vehicle and remote module. Automated sensing and tracking are reported within the mission equipment; these are different from independent vehicle navigation or autonomous weapon decisions. Public authorisation is clear, while a specific procurement commitment, fleet quantity and dated unit delivery were not established. The status label therefore remains conservative, with the authorisation milestone stated explicitly and unsupported numeric specifications left unknown.
