What happened
General Atomics has unveiled Wildfire, a new uncrewed aircraft proposal centred on surveillance, strike and higher-volume production. The company says it has submitted the design to the US Air Force’s Massed Modular Aircraft competition, managed with the Defense Innovation Unit, as an alternative to the MQ-9A Reaper. Wildfire is intended to use modular payloads and collaborative autonomy drawing on the company’s CCA work. The release is a product and competition announcement; it does not establish a contract award or operational availability.
